Unique Fundraiser: Losing It For Local Charity


Ms. Thelma Williams, President of the Vera Perlin Society, is pleased to announce another fundraiser to support the renovations of The Perlin Centre located at 350 Pennywell Rd. The theme of our event is:


“Losing it for Local Charity”





Mr. Wayne Holloway of the Board of Directors for the Vera Perlin Society has committed to losing weight for local charity. The Vera Perlin Society will be the recipient of all funds raised through the project. All pledges received will be used for the renovations of the Perlin Centre at 350 Pennywell Rd. Pledge sheets will be circulated to interested individuals, community groups, local companies, and corporations who want to participate in this unique fundraiser. The kickoff took place at the Knights of Columbus on St. Clare Avenue on Thursday, October 21st, 2010 at 1pm.

The Vera Perlin Society is a non-profit charitable organization which was founded by Mrs. Vera Crosbie Perlin , O.C.,LL.D in 1954 and her work continues some 56 years later.


The Vera Perlin Society offers quality programs and support to individuals with a developmental disability and their families in the St. John’s and surrounding area through: Career Development, Community Living, Employment and Administration.


The Perlin Centre provides a quality day program for individuals with a developmental disability 18 years of age and older living in St. John’s and surrounding areas. The following programs are offered at the Perlin Centre:

  • Creative Arts
  • Domestic Science
  • Industrial Arts
